Claymore (klā moŕ) n
(ScotGael claidheamh mòr, 'great sword')
A great two-handed sword with a double-edged blade carried by the Scottish Highlander in the 16th century. Once the national weapon of Scots. The long tapering blade was over three and one half feet long and the handle over a foot long. The distinct feature of the sword is the quillions, which slope downward toward the blade and terminate in the quatrefoils.
